In the old days I was young
But it’s not like the old days
The days are the same
But I am old
And my house of cards wants to fall and fold
The heart that was hot, it has grown cold

The world I knew has passed away
Gone for good…it makes me sad
But like my Mom and my Dad
So much has gone for good

And the wind that blew in the hope of change
Has changed direction and become strange
Like the people on the streets - I see as shapes
Not even human - just ghosts and fakes

No way back but through my heart
But that way of light has fallen dark
It’s all falling like them leaves I wrote
My life is a book, you are welcome to write in it
Try to give this flesh back its spirit
In the promised land that breaks its promise
I forget to forgive and never write the will to live

The demons are all gone, what’s left is the doubt
Medicine keeps the angel pinned
I still twist but I don’t shout

The world I knew has passed away
Gone for good…it makes me sad
But like my Mom and my Dad
So much has gone for good

Still a stranger in a strange land
I could never understand
I call nowhere home and nothing I am
Now I don’t take more than I need
I don’t give more than a damn
A skeleton left of broken dreams
So tell me am I still your man?
